Supplied and fitted multiple modifications on my new Defender Hard Top. Over the moon with the service I received.
Wanted some subtle tweaks to my Defender. All done, on time and done well. Good company with good communication.
Background and Engineering Detail
Why the LC250 Commercial is built the way it is, what window re-activation involves, and what the certifications mean.
About the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser LC250 Commercial
The 2025 Land Cruiser LC250 is the latest generation of Toyota's flagship off-road platform, launched globally in 2024 on the new TNGA-F body-on-frame architecture. The Commercial variant is the UK van specification, sold as a two-seat panel-back rather than the standard five or seven-seat passenger configuration. Toyota positions the LC250 Commercial for trade, agricultural and security use cases where rear seating is not required at point of order.
Mechanically the Commercial is identical to the standard LC250: same chassis, same 2.8-litre diesel powertrain, same Multi-Terrain Select and electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System. The differences are limited to the rear interior. The rear bench is removed, the rear interior trim is simplified, the rear electric windows are disabled by Toyota with blanking covers, and a flat load floor replaces the seating area.
What this means in practice is that converting an LC250 Commercial back to a passenger configuration is mechanically straightforward. The mounting points, wiring looms and structural reinforcements all remain in place underneath the load floor and behind the trim panels. Our conversion adds the seating, belts and ISOFIX, then re-activates the dormant rear window mechanisms.
What's Involved in Land Cruiser Window Re-Activation
This is the unique element of the LC250 conversion. Toyota disables the rear electric windows on Commercial spec by fitting blanking covers over the rear switch housings and concealment panels over the window glass mechanisms. The wiring, motors, switches and glass tracks all remain installed behind the trim. The functionality is dormant rather than removed.
As part of the conversion we remove the factory blanking covers and concealment panels, then reconnect the original switch and glass mechanisms to return the rear windows to full passenger functionality. The result is identical to the factory passenger LC250: rear passengers can lower and raise their windows from the door switches, and the front controls retain full master access.
This work is included in the £3,500 + VAT conversion price. No extra charge, no separate quote. Most converters in the UK either skip this step entirely or charge it as a £400 to £600 add-on. We treat it as standard because a passenger conversion that leaves the rear windows non-functional isn't a finished job.
ISOFIX, M1 Certification and What They Mean for You
Every Land Cruiser conversion we fit includes ISOFIX child seat anchorage points as standard. ISOFIX is the international standard for child seat attachment, using two structural anchor points integrated into the seat frame rather than relying on the seat belt. The system is significantly more secure than belt-only mounting, and many high-end child seats are designed to install only via ISOFIX.
M1 type-approval covers the full passenger seat assembly, including the seat frame, the belt geometry, and the head restraint position. A type-approved seat is legally road-compliant for passenger use without further engineering certification, modification or compliance testing required from the owner. The certification is held by ScotSeat as the manufacturer and applies to every fitted unit.
What this means in practice: you fit the conversion, you collect the paperwork, you drive away. There is no separate engineering report to commission, no compliance check to schedule, no further work needed before the vehicle is legal to carry rear passengers including children in approved child seats.
