A Guide to Choosing the Perfect Shade
5% - Limo Tint
This is the darkest legal tint and is popular among those who want the most privacy and UV protection.
20% - Factory Tint
This is a very common choice among those who want a factory-like appearance and good UV protection.
30% - Medium Tint
This is a popular choice among those who want a balance of privacy and UV protection while still allowing a decent amount of light into the vehicle. You will still be able to see into the vehicle.
50% - Light Tint
This is a popular choice to reduce heat and glare inside the vehicle without darkening the windows too much. You will still be able to see clearly through the window.
Ultimately, the choice of tint shade depends on your personal preference and your specific needs. Our team will be happy to help you choose the perfect tint shade, you can choose this on the day, we have a display piece of glass in our office that shows the different shades.
UK Window Tinting Laws
In the United Kingdom you can have as much tint on your REAR windows as you like, this is from the ‘B’ pillar back.
On the front driver and passenger side windows, your glass must allow 70% of light to pass through. On the windscreen it must allow 75% light to pass through. Unfortunately, all cars from factory come already on this legal limit, if any film is applied to the front three windows, they will be illegal. Even our lightest film available, 50%, would be illegal. To back this up, here is a link to the Government website: www.gov.uk/tinted-vehicle-window-rules
If you feel like your car definitely doesn’t have any tint on its front windows at all, a simple way of checking is to simply roll down your window and put a piece of white paper in front of the glass, if it slightly changes shade as it goes behind the glass, its tinted.

Rear windows
No legal limitEvery window behind the front doors, both rear sides and the rear windscreen, has no legal limit. Go as dark as you like, right down to 5 percent limo black for full privacy.
What we do: this is where most of our work goes. Pick any shade and we match it across all your rear glass for one clean finish.
Front side windows
Must let 70% of light throughThe driver and front passenger windows must let at least 70 percent of light through. A light, factory style tint is the legal maximum here.
What we do: we only ever fit a road legal tint to your fronts, so you always pass a roadside check.
Front windscreen
Must let 75% of light throughThe front windscreen must let at least 75 percent of light through. Most owners add only a light sun strip across the very top.
What we do: we keep your windscreen fully road legal, so it never causes you a problem.
Why it matters. Fit illegal front tint and you risk an on the spot penalty, a prohibition notice ordering you to remove it, and a fresh bill to take it back off. We never fit illegal front tint, so that is never your worry.
Limits apply to the front glass on vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1985. Cars registered before then follow a 70 percent limit on the front windscreen and front side windows.
